GIS Day 2007 November 14

GIS Day is a grassroots event that formalizes the practice of geographic information systems (GIS) users and vendors of opening their doors to schools, businesses, and the general public to showcase real-world applications of this important technology.

GIS Day is part of the National Geographic Society's exciting new initiative, Geography Action, which is a year-long initiative encompassing key educational achievements such as GIS Day and Geography Awareness Week.

Central Coast Aerial Photos

AMBAG sponsored an aerial flight of parts of the central coast in June/July of 2003. The flight produced color orthophotos at various resolutions. The CCJDC provides downloadable access to these aerial photos. Once on the webpage click on "View Interactive Map".

Online version of the United Nations Environmental Programme's atlas of satellite images that document envirnmental changes.

UC Atlas of Global Inequality

The GIS lab hosts the Atlas web site and Brian Fulfrost, UCSC GIS Coordinator, provides GIS and mapping suppport for the project as well as database and ArcIMS design and development. The Atlas is available to anyone with an internet connection all over the world, not just the UC system.

The Atlas explores the interaction between global integration (globalization) and inequality, and provides maps, graphics and data primarily for use by students and teachers in the University of California. We hope the information may also be of use for researchers and activists worldwide.
